"When we started pre-season we beat Aston Villa 3-1 and it was an amazing result for the football club. After that game, everybody was talking about promotion," Kovacs the Lincolnshire Echo. "It is always good to look forward to the next level, but I think we had a little too much pressure on our backs." The Imps' play-off hopes ended on Saturday with their 1-0 defeat at home to Exeter. But Kovacs urged supporters to remember the progress made since the arrival of Peter Jackson as manager at Sincil Bank in October 2007. The 23-year-old added: "I understand the fans' disappointment that we're not in the play-offs because every fan wants their team to be top of the table. "But last season, Lincoln were near relegation. When Peter Jackson came here they were in the relegation zone."
