Kempson strike sinks Lincoln

The Stanley centre-half headed home a Jimmy Ryan free kick after 50 minutes against an Imps side which struggled in attack all afternoon long as the hosts created the better chances and deserved the win. Reds striker Paul Mullin missed a gilt-edge chance 10 minutes in when, unmarked, he got on the end of John Miles' cross but steered his effort wide. Miles was lively for the Reds, who are the bookmaker's favourites for relegation, and he fired a 20-yard strike over the bar and had another long-range effort pushed away by Rob Burch before creating another chance for Mullin who again couldn't find the target. Imps boss Peter Jackson tried to get his side going with a double substitution on the hour, and they did finally trouble Stanley keeper Alan Martin with Janos Kovacs having a header cleared off the line while sub Andy Hutchinson could only chest the ball into Martin's arms from six yards out.
