Jackson given boot by Red Imps

Jackson had been charge of Lincoln for almost two years, but has parted company with the Imps after Tuesday's defeat by Darlington in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy. The club were also knocked out of the Carling Cup in the first round by Barnsley and have picked up six points from their opening five games in League Two. That run of results has cost Jackson his job, with the Imps also confirming Onuora has left the club. A club statement read: "The Lincoln City Football Club board of directors have agreed to part company with manager Peter Jackson and assistant manager Iffy Onuora with immediate effect. "Following the frustration of last season's poor home form which led to a drop in attendances, the board have been disappointed with the poor start to this campaign and the early exit from two cup competitions. "It is with regret that the board have made this decision as Peter and Iffy have worked hard to raise the profile of the club in many ways, however the bottom line is the need for results. "First-team coach Simon Clark, assisted by head of youth Tom Spall, will be put in temporary charge while a search for a new manager takes place."
