Imps secure much-needed victory

In front of their biggest crowd of the season, attracted by the presence of the World Cup trophy, Lincoln swept into an early lead when on-loan striker Davide Somma cracked a shot into the back of the net after 11 minutes.[LNB]Hereford, who had lost four of their previous five games, almost levelled when an effort from Gavin McCallum beat Lincoln keeper Rob Burch but was cleared off the line by Cian Hughton.[LNB]City went on to double their lead after 20 minutes when midfielder Matthew Saunders fired a spectacular 35-yard shot into the top corner.[LNB]Ryan Ballantyne went close for the visitors before Marc Pugh pulled a goal back three minutes before the break.[LNB]Lincoln had some nervous moments in the second half, with Leon Constantine going close with three efforts. But the Imps eventually clinched victory with 20 minutes left when the impressive Somma set up Saunders for his second goal of the game.[LNB][LNB]
