Imps hoping for experience

Lincoln are targeting an experienced manager to succeed Chris Sutton, chairman Bob Dorrian has revealed. Dorrian had previously stated that the Imps could again opt for an "up and coming manager, maybe from non-league." But after handing Sutton his first managerial job just over a year ago, Dorrian believes there is no substitute for league experience and would even be willing to pay compensation to another club to get the right man. "I don't think we can afford to gamble again with young, up-and-coming managers," said Dorrian. "Our view is that we will veer towards bringing in a manager with good League One or League Two experience. "We will draw up a shortlist on Thursday based on the applications we have received and also proactively, on the part of the board, look in terms of managers who may already be at other clubs. "If we have to pay compensation to get a manager from another club then we are fully prepared to do that."
