Imps heavily beaten

30 July 2010 21:31
Lincoln crashed out of the Lincolnshire Cup semi-final with a crushing 4-2 defeat to local rivals Grimsby. In an enthralling first half the Imps took the lead when Gavin McCallum struck in the 13th minute, before Peter Bore drew Grimsby level nine minutes later. Alan Connell soon put the hosts ahead in the 26th minute, only for McCallum to level just 60 seconds later. Scott Garner restored the Mariners' lead and Micky Cummins gave them a two-goal advantage before the break. No goals after the interval means Grimsby go on to face Scunthorpe in the final at Glanford Park on Tuesday, while Lincoln are left to prepare for their season-opener against Rotherham a week on Saturday.
