Double boost ahead of Daggers trip

Oakes required stitches in a gashed foot following the victory at Bradford and was forced to miss the home defeat to Burton last weekend. The bruising has now subsided and Oakes has resumed training. Fellow midfielder Scott Kerr is also pushing for a place in the squad after playing for the reserves in midweek. The City skipper missed the Burton defeat with a back injury but has taken part in some light training and could be included on the bench. One player who will definitely miss out is on-loan left-back Joe Heath who has returned to Nottingham Forest to receive treatment on a hip problem. Paul Connor is expected to resume training before the end of the week, but after missing the last three matches with a thigh injury, this game will come too soon for the striker. The Johnstone's Paint Trophy clash at Darlington next Tuesday evening is a more likely return date for the 30-year-old.
