Dorrian named Imps vice-chairman
Various positions at the club came under review at the board's annual strategy meeting last week and the decision to make the change was made.
The vice-chairman's role includes responsibility for first-team football and it was felt the fact Beck lives in North Oxfordshire could impact on the club.
Beck told the club's official website: "Whilst given the opportunity to have this new role, logistically it would prove difficult."
Beck is staying on as the Imps' liaison director.
