Dorrian admits Sutton plea

Lincoln chairman Bob Dorrian has revealed he made a failed last-ditch plea to persuade Chris Sutton to remain as manager. Sutton resigned after a year in charge at Sincil Bank following the goalless home draw with Burton on Tuesday night, citing personal reasons as the reason for his departure. Dorrian remains in shock at Sutton's decision, insisting there was no hint that he was unhappy with life at the npower League Two club. "I was very shocked and ultimately very saddened by his decision because I had no warning that he was about to tender his resignation," Dorrian told the Lincolnshire Echo. "He cited personal reasons for leaving and because there is a confidentiality agreement in place, it would be wrong of me to go into detail. "But I tried on numerous occasions to change his mind by saying 'look, please will you reconsider', but it was clear that he was not going to budge. Football is totally unpredictable and I did not see this coming at all."
