Brush bemoans defensive blunders

Lincoln assistant manager Paul Brush admitted that poor defending let the side down as they fell to a 2-1 home defeat to Wycombe. Gavin McCallum smashed home an unstoppable volley in the 17th minute to stun the visitors but Andy Sandell scored two second-half goals to claim the win. Lincoln goalkeeper Joe Anyon misjudged Sandell's free-kick and conceded the equaliser before the Chairboys left-back headed home from close range with most of the defence watching. Brush said: "For the first 25 minutes we came out and did well. We could have had the game won by then. We had some really good chances. "But our defending is not good enough. In the last 20 minutes of the first half our defending was some of the worst I have seen in my life. We conceded two awful goals. "What makes it hurt even more is that we have been working on our defending during training during the week. We just don't seem to be able to do it on the pitch. "The position we are in at the moment required not just ability from the players but strength of mind. This team hasn't been used to winning and the mentality has got to change. We've got to bring new players in. There is no reason why we can't win two or three games on the trot and it's a different situation then."
