Nicolas de Preville's solitary goal clinched Lille a 1-0 victory at Bordeaux and their first win on the road in Ligue 1 this season.

Striker De Preville struck from close range at the end of the first half to lift Lille out of the bottom three, while Bordeaux, for whom Diego Rolan missed a second-half penalty, slipped to their first defeat in eight league matches.

Lille created plenty of first-half chances and although Rolan headed just wide for Bordeaux in the 37th minute, the visitors took the lead just before half-time when De Preville turned the ball home following a corner.

Rony Lopes went close to extending Lille's lead as he fired a shot from outside the area against the crossbar in the 62nd minute.

Rolan hit the bar for Bordeaux with his spot-kick in the 73rd minute after Franck Beria had fouled Nicolas Pallois in the area.
