Smith opts to join O's

Leyton Orient have persuaded Chelsea youngster Jimmy Smith to return to Brisbane Road on a permanent basis.

The 22-year-old midfielder, who spent three months of last season on loan with the O's, has penned a two-year deal with Geraint Williams' side.

"It feels like I've hardly been away," he told the club's official website.

"I had a little break over the summer, but I'm glad to be back and to have signed for the club.

"It was an easy decision to come back once I knew Orient were interested. I enjoyed my time here last season and the team did really well.

"The players here are great and the club is only just down the road from my house, so it's good to be at Orient again."
