Slade salutes Orient character
Manager Russell Slade hailed the spirit and resilience of his players after Leyton Orient won 2-1 at Tranmere.Orient went ahead in the 10th minute when skipper Stephen Dawson fired into the top-right corner after Rovers failed to clear the ball properly. Then in first-half stoppage time the Os doubled their lead when Scott McGleish found the back of the net.Scott Wootton pulled a goal back for Tranmere but Slade`s side held off a spirited comeback."It was a great win. I am really proud of the lads. They dug so deep," said Slade. "We were in control until they scored and then we certainly had to hang on a bit."They are a great group of lads. There is a tremendous spirit and resilience within the club. We were out on our feet in the last 10 minutes but we hung on to get our reward."Our keeper made four excellent saves but good keepers do do that at crucial times. We have lost only twice in 17 games so it's getting better for us. We have maintained a certain momentum and it is always good to see a team making improvements."
