Simpson released by O's

Leyton Orient have released Michael Simpson following the end of his short-term contract.
The 33-year-old midfielder was handed a month-to-month contract after suffering a cruciate knee ligament injury but has now been released after failing to prove his fitness.
Simpson made 118 starts for the O's during three seasons at Brisbane Road.
"Unfortunately, Michael was unable to come back to full fitness before the end of his contract," manager Martin Ling told the club's official website.
"We had hoped to take a look at him during July and August to see if he was back to the level we needed.
"But with the emergence of Jason Demetriou, we feel that we are sufficiently covered in the midfield area now and that it was best if Michael moved on to pastures new.
"It's always difficult to release a player in these circumstances, but Michael understands the decision and he will work hard to get himself ready to play for a new team now."
