O's want Williams to stay on

Leyton Orient captain Stephen Purches has urged the club's hierarchy to retain the services of manager Geraint Williams.

Williams was handed the reins on a short-term deal until the end of the season after replacing the sacked Martin Ling as Orient boss in February.

"Hopefully, things will get sorted out and I'm sure they will," Purches told the Ilford Recorder.

"The gaffer's done well and has got the best out of the squad. I'm sure other clubs will be looking at what he's done and will be interested.

"But it's a decision that has nothing to do with the players. It's out of our hands and it's up to the manager and the club."
