O's swoop for Purches

Leyton Orient have snapped up Bournemouth defender Stephen Purches on a two-year contract.

The versatile 27-year-old has turned down the offer of a new deal from the Cherries to head to Brisbane Road, ending a seven-year stint with Bournemouth.

O's boss Martin Ling told the club's official website: "He's proven at this level having played for more than five years with Bournemouth.

"He will be the first of many to arrive this summer and by the time we return to pre-season training, exactly a month today, we will have a team to be proud of."

Purches can play at full-back on either flank, or in midfield and scored 12 goals in 273 appearances for his previous club.
