O's secure Lockwood deal

Leyton Orient's star left-back Matt Lockwood has signed a new two-year contract with the League One club.

The 30-year-old, who was recently named in the PFA League One team of the season, also has an option for a further 12 months and will earn a testimonial as a result of his loyalty to the O's.

He told the club's official website: "I want to break all the records if I can.

"I've done the penalty scoring record and have become the highest scoring defender, but the appearance record is the one I want.

"If I do get there I don't think that will be beaten because these days players' careers don't last as long, and there isn't as much loyalty in the game."

Lockwood has made 327 league appearances for Orient and is 105 short of Peter Allen's all-time club record.

In total Lockwood has scored 56 goals in 383 outings for the O's since his free transfer arrival from Bristol Rovers in the summer of 1998.
