    Ling lands new keeper

    01 Jul 2008 - 11:22:18

Teenage goalkeeper Jamie Jones has penned a two-year deal with Leyton Orient.

The 19-year-old former Everton shot-stopper was released by the Premier League side in May and O's boss Martin Ling has moved quickly to snap up the highly-rated youngster.

Ling told the club's official website: "I'm very pleased to have signed Jamie. He's been with Everton since the age of seven and has an excellent pedigree.

"Jamie's a good size and will provide excellent competition for Glenn Morris. He'll be able to learn from being around a first-team set-up and it's pleasing to complete another piece of the jigsaw.

"He first came on to our radar from our northern scout watching him for Everton's reserves on a couple of occasions last year and the reports we had were positive.

"He also spent time on trial at Yeovil last season and they were keen to sign him - and the fact that another League One club were in for him shows that he's of good quality."
