Ling cools Demetriou rumours

Leyton Orient boss Martin Ling has played down rumours linking wing-back Jason Demetriou with a move to either Newcastle United or Charlton Athletic.

The 20-year-old has been in impressive form for the O's in recent times, sparking talk of a move to a higher level, but Ling is unaware of any imminent deal.

He told the Epping Forest Guardian: "I don't know where the story has come from and I certainly haven't had either of those clubs on the phone asking about Jason.

"Of course, I know people will be interested in him because he is a good young player and we also have a reputation for producing our own talent.

"I do see Jason playing at a higher level one day, but there has been no interest in him so far."
