Ling calls for final flourish
03 Mar 2008 - 14:07:23
Leyton Orient manager Martin Ling remains convinced his side can defy the odds and clinch a place in the League One play-offs.
The O's made a fantastic start to the season and, although they have faded of late and are currently ninth in the table, are still in contention for a top-six finish.
Ling is delighted with his side's progress this season, telling Spy Sports: "I think that everyone should put into perspective just what we've achieved.
"All the bookmakers put us as outsiders of the whole league and favourites to go down.
"So if we end up in the play-offs then I think that would be a massive over-achievement and I think that we'd be the surprise package of League One for the season.
"Even though we might have dropped out of the top-six, we still see it as a really good season, but an absolutely fabulous season would be to finish in that top-six and be that surprise package.
"We've been a little bit inconsistent, we've had a couple of draws against the top teams and we haven't managed consecutive wins since September so things are a little bit frustrating at the moment."
