    Chambers wins O's deal

    29 Aug 2006 - 09:47:02

Leyton Orient boss Martin Ling has finally opted to sign the former West Brom midfielder Adam Chambers on a permanent contract until the end of the season.

The 25-year-old has been on trial with the O's since pre-season and has persuaded Ling that he is finally over the injury problems that have dogged him in the last 12 months.

"Adam's been with us for six weeks now and he's impressed us every minute he's been here," Ling told the club's official website.

"The quality that allowed him to play in the Premiership hasn't left him, but he's been troubled by injury over the last year, although his time here has shown us he's over those problems.

"He gives me good options for the squad too, because not only can he play in central midfield, but at right or left-back too.

"He deserves the opportunity to show us what he can do over the course of the season, and I'm sure he will do enough to earn a contract for a longer period of time."

Chambers made 69 appearances for West Brom before moving to Kidderminster Harriers in March 2005. He made only two appearances for the Aggborough-based side before being released just over one year ago and missing the entire 2005-06 season with injury.

He also made 11 appearances for Sheffield Wednesday during a three-month loan spell at Hillsborough at the end of the 2003-04 campaign.
