Ashworth ends Orient stay

Leyton Orient have allowed teenage defender Luke Ashworth to return to Wigan Athletic following a loan spell at Brisbane Road.

The 18-year-old made five appearances for the O's, but has failed to feature since mid-October due to the return to fitness of Tamika Mkandawire.

O's boss Martin Ling told the club's official website: "Luke came to the club to act as cover for the centre-back position and did an excellent job for us.

"He hasn't been getting enough bench or pitch time in recent weeks though, so it is best that he returns to Wigan, so he can remind them what he's about.

"His time here clearly showed that he has a bright future and we'll continue to monitor his situation at Wigan."
