Williams happy despite late goal

Williams' men ran out 2-1 winners at the Weston Homes Community Stadium, where Williams spent nearly a decade as a player, coach and manager. A second-minute strike from Romanian Adrian Patulea sent Orient on their way before JJ Melligan doubled the London side's lead just after the hour mark. Simon Hackney responded with a free-kick in the final minute of stoppage time, but it was not enough to prevent Colchester being dumped out of the competition. "We are disappointed we have not kept a clean sheet because I felt the lads deserved it," said Williams. "We had a tough away game at Bristol Rovers (on Saturday) but we have come here and given a very professional performance. "The early goal certainly didn't hurt us. Their players might have thought an early goal for them would have put pressure on us but it didn't work that way."
