Williams enjoys happy U's return

Williams spent nearly a decade as a player, coach and manager at Colchester but his current employers led with just 80 seconds gone when JJ Melligan's fine cross saw Romanian striker Adrian Patulea head home at the far post.[LNB]Colchester goalkeeper Mark Cousins saved from Jimmy Smith and Andros Townsend, while the closest the home side came to scoring in the first half was when Simon Hackney's dipping effort was palmed away by Glenn Morris.[LNB]The U's started the second half in positive fashion, with both Ashley Vincent and Kevin Lisbie going close after half-time.[LNB]But Melligan finished the tie when he fired home a low cross-shot after Jason Demetriou had picked him out, following a swift Orient move.[LNB]Clive Platt was sent off for Colchester in stoppage-time for violent conduct and although Simon Hackney fired home a free-kick for the U's late on, it was only a consolation.[LNB][LNB][LNB]
