The former Colchester boss took the reigns at Brisbane Road in February following the departure of Martin Ling and has steered the club to League One safety with nine wins from his 16 games in charge. He had initially only signed a deal until the end of the season but has now, along with assistant manager Kevin Nugent, agreed to stay in east London until the end of next season. "I have been thoroughly impressed with what I've seen at Leyton Orient and I'm delighted to renew my contract," Williams told Orient's official website. "We achieved the aim of staying in this division for next season and we'll be working hard to build on that. We'll lay down our plans for next season and hit the ground running for 2009/10." Speaking after agreeing the deal with Williams, Orient chairman Barry Hearn added: "We're delighted George and Kevin have agreed to stay with us and continue the good work that they've started over recent months."
