Lee Butcher earned the praise of manager Russell Slade after the young goalkeeper excelled on his Football League debut to earn Leyton Orient a 1-1 draw at Oldham. The Os lost Jamie Jones to injury just before half-time. Butcher came on and the 21-year-old made a string of fine saves. "We had a problem just before half-time when our keeper Jamie Jones had to come off but young Lee Butcher went on and made two great saves," said Slade. "He came into a difficult situation because we were behind but the lad did well and everybody is buzzing for him." Veteran striker Scott McGleish came off the bench to score a late equaliser and earn Orient a point after Chris Taylor had given Oldham a first-half lead Slade added: "When you are 1-0 down away from home for a long period, it is always very good to come back and get a share of the spoils. If I am honest, Oldham deserved to be in front at half-time but after that there was a lot more purpose about us. "I suspect they thought they were set up for the rest of the game, but we matched them in the second half. It is full credit to the boys for not losing and, of course, we had Scott McGleish in the right place at the right time for our goal."
