Slade: Both sides deserve credit

Leyton Orient boss Russell Slade felt both sides deserved credit following the 1-1 draw against Rochdale at a rain-soaked Spotland. Heavy rain in the build-up and throughout the match meant the surface cut up badly and despite the fact his side were leading at the break, Dale boss Keith Hill felt the contest should have been postponed. The breakthrough arrived after 32 minutes when Brian Barry-Murphy's cross was glanced into his own net by Os defender Terrell Forbes. Rochdale were left to rue a host of missed opportunities as Ben Chorley's header earned Orient a point, yet Slade said: "Before the game I felt it was playable and I thought it was the right decision to start the match. But that rain never stopped and there were times when you could have said enough's enough really. "The overwhelming thing for me was the fact the game was played in a really good spirit. It was competitive and players were sometimes a little bit late, but nobody was ranting and raving about it, everyone got on with it and I think both teams deserve credit for that. "We go home happy with a point. There wasn't much in the game until Rochdale scored and then they created a few chances and if they had nicked a second before half-time it would have been difficult to come back from that. But we hung in there and second half we had a bit more about us. We looked livelier and went to 4-4-2 which helped us and Alex Revell could have nicked it. But we're pleased with a point."
