Orient come to Magpies' rescue

Newcastle were forced into a hasty rescheduling of their summer programme after being told by the FA they could not meet Dutch side Utrecht on Sunday, July 26 because Sunderland are playing 30 miles away in the Amsterdam tournament on the same day. The Magpies were unhappy with the decision and released a statement which read: "The club now finds itself with its pre-season programme of games disrupted and in the unenviable position of trying to organise another game over that weekend in a very short space of time." United will now instead head to east London for the first time in nine years to take on Geraint Williams' side.
