Batt sweating over starting berth

Shaun Batt could find himself back on the bench despite scoring a hat-trick last week when leaders Leyton Orient host Port Vale.

The striker took advantage of a rare chance in the starting line-up with a treble to sink Gillingham in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy 10 days ago.

But Kevin Lisbie and David Mooney, who have scored 10 goals between them already this season, are set to be recalled as the O's attempt to make it six wins from six in the league.

Defender Scott Cuthbert and midfielder Dean Cox were also rested against the Gills and should return, while boss Russell Slade has no new injury worries with the squad able to put their feet up over the weekend after the clash with Notts County was postponed.

Port Vale continue to assess Dan Jones.

Jones has missed the last two matches after suffering a groin strain during the home defeat to Wolves. Manager Micky Adams is waiting to see if Jones recovers sufficiently otherwise Carl Dickinson will continue at left-back.

Adams sprung a surprise against Carlisle last weekend by naming the same side which beat Bury in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy, but his judgement was proved correct as Vale claimed their first away win and maiden clean sheet of the campaign.

Louis Dodds, Ben Williamson and Chris Birchall were all given their first league starts of the season at Brunton Park but Adams made a point of praising substitutes Jennison Myrie-Williams, Kaid Mohamed and Gavin Tomlin, who could all now come into contention.
