O's pile pressure on Rovers

Kevin Lisbie and Chris Dagnall scored to give Leyton Orient a 2-0 home win over relegation-haunted Tranmere.

The deadlock was broken in the 44th minute when Lisbie fired in his 14th league goal of the season. A corner from the left taken by Dean Cox was nodded goalwards by Scott Cuthbert but the ball came out to Lisbie who netted from point-blank range.

There had only been two points of note in the first half apart from the goal. In the fourth minute Cox had seen his shot palmed away by goalkeeper Owain Fon Williams. Then after 36 minutes, the industrious Cox sent Shaun Batt free but his 40-yard run ended with the gangly striker firing into the side netting.

The visitors enjoyed plenty of possession after the break without offering too much threat and it was the home side who went closest with efforts from Lisbie and Moses Odubajo testing Williams.

However, the keeper blotted his copybook with a howler after 77 minutes. He sent an intended clearance from the edge of his penalty area straight to the feet of substitute Dagnall who fired the ball into the empty net from 25 yards.
