Orient in cruise control

Dean Cox and David Mooney earned Leyton Orient a deserved 2-0 victory against Coventry at Brisbane Road to further boost their automatic promotion prospects.

Although the Os totally dominated the first half, they were unable to find a way past their opponents as a series of shots were foiled by a resilient defence.

But Cox broke the deadlock in the 56th minute with a fine volley from 12 yards after the Sky Blues had failed to clear a corner.

That goal came just one minute after Kevin Lisbie had seen his penalty saved by Coventry goalkeeper Joe Murphy following Andy Webster's foul on Cox.

Coventry pushed forward in search of an equaliser and Orient goalkeeper Eldin Jakupovic produced a fine save to deny Carl Baker.

But the home side always looked superior and put the result beyond doubt through leading goalscorer Mooney.

He had only been on the pitch for four minutes when his speculative shot from 20 yards was spilled by Murphy, who to his horror saw the ball roll into the net.
