Leighton Town can only manage draw with Beaconsfield
Wednesday Nov 09 2005 00:00
Town travelled to Beaconsfield with several key players still missing, hoping to end a run of poor results and were grateful for a last minute penalty to earn them a share of the points.Town started the game slowly and the hosts went in front in the 14th minute following a free kick that caught the Town defence at sixes and sevens and allowed Gibson to nip in front of Lee Clark to score a simple goal.Town’s first effort did not arrive until the 20th minute when Michael Chennells shot just wide of the post. Beaconsfield were having the better of possession and territory and from a corner only desperate defence by Town kept the lead to one goal. From the follow up corner Lee Clark was forced to make a good block to keep the hosts at bay.Town were struggling to get their passing going and went in at the interval distinctly second best.
