Starbuck relishes Leigh challenge

Thursday Sep 29 2005 15:34

Leigh RMI manager Phil Starbuck is hoping to make his own mark on the Railwaymen's squad next season.

The former Nottingham Forest frontman has allowed a number of players to leave Hilton Park as part of a summer shake-up, although midfielder Wayne Maden has been offered a new deal after earlier reports suggested he was on his way out.

Starbuck said: "It will be nice to have a full season at it, to start in pre-season and plan and build my own team.

"It won't be easy next year, but it's an opportunity I'm relishing. I want to play some attractive football with more resolve and some better results."

Leading scorer David McNiven and midfielder Gareth Holmes have yet to accept new contract offers from the club.
