Leigh RMI's caretaker manager Phil Starbuck is hoping to land the manager's job on a permanent basis, following the resignation of Mark Patterson.
Veteran striker Starbuck saw his charges lose 2-0 at Accrington Stanley in the FA Cup fourth qualifying round last weekend, but is upbeat about both his and the club's future.
He told BBC Sport Online: "I was very encouraged by the way we played at Accrington on Saturday.
"We played well and didn't deserve that result, but if we build on that and continue those standards I'm very confident in the players and have no doubts in my mind that we can turn things round.
"Everything from the board and the chairman is very positive so hopefully in the near future, for the good of the club and the stability of the players, they will make an announcement which will hopefully go in my direction."
