Leigh RMI have confirmed that star striker Dino Maamria has left the club to join Stevenage Borough and that he has been replaced by Keith Scott from Scarborough.
Maamria had earlier turned down a move to Broadhall Way, but changed his mind after Boro boss Graham Westley came back with a vastly improved contract offer.
Railwaymen manager Mark Patterson is sorry to see the Tunisian go, but has moved quickly to lessen the impact of his departure by signing strikers Keith Scott and Neil Campbell from Scarborough.
As previously reported Campbell has joined the Hilton Park outfit on loan for the remainder of the season, but Scott has joined on a permanent basis - making Leigh the 13th club of his long career.
Patterson said of Maamria: "Personally I couldn't blame him because the offer was exceptional for such a short term contract.
"I'd have loved to have kept him but I don't want to hang on to a player whose mind is elsewhere. I wish him all the best for the future."
But on a more positive note he added: "Dino has gone but the club is moving forward with two new signings. Money from the transfer has allowed us to sign forward Keith Scott from Scarborough. Neil Campbell will also be joining us on loan from Scarborough until the end of the season.
"Campbell, who is known to RMI supporters from previous visits to Hilton Park, is a wholehearted player. He will bring a strong presence to the front line, something which has been missing since I've been here.
"Leigh's attacking line-up hasn't scored more than one goal in a Conference game since November 2. In that time the team has only scored 6 goals in the last 13 games.
"Centre forward Keith Scott, who is six foot three, will be a fantastic asset and add another dimension to our attacking force."
