Leicester City boss Rob Kelly hopes Alan Sheehan gains some valuable first-team experience at Mansfield Town after allowing the teenager to move to Field Mill on a one-month loan deal.

The Republic of Ireland Under-21 international signed a two-year deal with the Foxes earlier this year and has made five appearances for the club – his last coming in December 2005.

"The move will give Alan a great opportunity to get some match experience under his belt and that's something that will only help to further his development as a player," Kelly told City's official website.

"We'll obviously keep a close eye on his progress while he's away."
