Pearson talks up Spearing

Leicester City boss Nigel Pearson is confident that loan signing Jay Spearing can make a major impact in the closing weeks of the Championship season.

The 21-year-old Liverpool midfielder made his Foxes debut as a substitute in the 2-1 defeat by Reading on Wednesday evening.

Pearson told The Mercury: "He's a player with a lot of potential and he has a lot of experience for a young lad.

"At this stage of the season he's another option and another young player who wants to prove himself.

"This is a short-term deal, but he is a player we have been monitoring for quite a long time and it's a good time to get him."
