Leicester City have confirmed the appointment of Nigel Pearson as their new manager, as they prepare for life in League One next season.
The 44-year-old guided Southampton to Championship safety at the end of last season, but parted company with the Saints soon after.
Foxes chairman Milan Mandaric commented: "After several weeks of hard work I am pleased to say we have our new manager on board.
"The first time I met Nigel I knew he was going to be our man. He's bursting with desire to become the manager of Leicester City and take the club where we want to be."
Pearson added: "I'm delighted to be here. The club has been through a difficult period, but it's a fantastic opportunity for me and there is a lot of scope for the club to redevelop.
"The important thing is we give ourselves a chance of bouncing back this year, but it's a tough league.
"We have the resources to get back up and the opportunity has come quickly for me.
"I don't want to dwell too much on the past, I have to move on. There is always pressure and demands from the fans, but the realism of the situation is we are where we are.
"We are focused on bouncing back. My job is to get the club back in The Championship."
