Pearson slams beaten Foxes
29 Oct 2008 - 10:09:12
Leicester City boss Nigel Pearson blasted his side after they threw away a two-goal lead to stumble to a 3-2 defeat at Brighton & Hove Albion.
The Foxes looked well set for victory after Matt Fryatt scored twice, but the Seagulls roared back to secure a first home league win of the campaign.
Pearson told The Mercury: "I am not very happy, I know that. I am not exactly enamoured by the performance. There will be plenty for us to talk about tomorrow.
"We put ourselves in a winning position and threw it away. The job was only half done at the break, but games last 90 minutes and we just didn't apply ourselves properly in that second half.
"I am disappointed not only with the result, but also the fashion in which we conceded a two-goal lead.
"We have had wake-up calls before and this is definitely another one. It is important now that we bounce straight back in our next game.
"There are no excuses. We did very well and scored two good goals in the first half and should have maintained that in the second, but we just didn't see it through."
