Pearson handed boss gong
04 Sep 2008 - 13:38:48
Leicester City boss Nigel Pearson has won the League One Manager of the Month award for August.
The Foxes have made a fine start to their first-ever season in the third tier of English football, topping the table after three wins and a draw in their opening four games.
City started the campaign with a 2-0 home victory over MK Dons, before being held to a goalless draw at Stockport County.
The Foxes then saw off Tranmere Rovers 3-1 at the Walkers Stadium, before recording a convincing 4-0 victory at Cheltenham Town.
Pearson told his club's official website: "As far as I am concerned this is an award for everyone involved at Leicester City.
"It's nice to be recognised, but it's certainly not about one person. It's about a concerted team effort.
"I am not one to get carried away with things. It is certainly nice, but I would like to think it is recognition of a concerted team effort right the way through the club.
"We now have to be very mindful that we don't become complacent.
"We have had a pretty solid start, although I am sure that throughout the course of the season we will come up against other situations that we have to deal with."
