Pearson: We Must Take Chances
Nigel Pearson knows that his team can ill-afford to waste any more chances if they are to finally realise their promotion dream.
After failing to capitalise on a host of chances away at Blackpool on Saturday, the Foxes were unable to take maximum points and so missed out on the opportunity to close the gap on their promotion rivals.
Thankfully for Pearson and his men, they only have to wait until tomorrow night to resume Championship action.
And, the City boss will be hoping that his side can take full advantage when they host mid-table Blackburn Rovers for what is one of the side's two games-in-hand.
Whilst even a handsome win will not lift them above their current fifth place, claiming all three points will reduce the gap to second-placed Watford to just five points.
Pearson said: "What you have to do in these situations is continue to work hard and apply yourselves properly.
"We are fractions away from collecting maximum points at the moment. That is something we have to deal with."
City's apparent dry spell in front of goal will not be helped by news that David Nugent is likely to miss tomorrow night's visit of Blackburn. The forward has suffered a recurrence of the neck injury he picked up earlier in the campaign.
Nugent's injury paves the way for loan signing Harry Kane to make his second start for the Foxes, and Pearson has been impressed by what he has seen so far.
The City boss said: "I think it was a good debut by Harry.
"He made a great chance for himself in the first half. It was fantastic technique and a good save from the goalkeeper.
"He showed a lot of tactical knowledge as well. His understanding of the systems we used was very good.
"I am delighted to have him on board. He coped with it pretty well." Pearson added.
