Pearson: Pressure on rivals
04 Feb 2009 - 12:25:21
Nigel Pearson believes Leicester City have put pressure back on their promotion rivals with a 4-1 victory at Walsall on Tuesday evening.
Goals from Matty Fryatt, Andy King, Tom Cleverley and Steven Howard saw the Foxes maintain their ten-point lead at the top of League One and afterwards Pearson was delighted.
"We knew that there were a number of other games in the division that had been postponed, so this game gave us the opportunity to put more pressure on our opponents," he told the club's official website.
"I am very pleased that we have overcome another potentially tricky away fixture.
"I thought that we played well. It was a very good performance and all aspects of our game on the evening were pleasing.
"It is important that we try and maintain these standards and look to improve them every time that we play."
