Derby County boss Billy Davies has hailed the impact made by new skipper Matt Oakley since his arrival from Southampton in the summer.
The 29-year-old has scored three times in 14 appearances since his switch from Southampton and Davies has praised Oakley for his efforts.
He told the Evening Telegraph: "We brought him here because he is an experienced pro, a leader and a good player. He is a calming influence on the field and a good communicator.
"He can create chances and goals and score himself as we have seen against Hull City, Sunderland and West Brom."
Meanwhile, Davies says he is unlikely to add any new faces before the loan transfer deadline on Thursday.
He added: "I've always said I will not go into the loan market just for the sake of it and I am also conscious of the financial constraints."
