Leicester City captain Patrick Kisnorbo could be sidelined until November after being stretchered off the pitch during the first half of Saturday's Championship clash against Sheffield Wednesday.

A scan has confirmed that the Australia international suffered a partial anterior cruciate tear that requires surgery.

Foxes boss Ian Holloway said: "It looked innocuous at the time - but those cruciate injuries always do.

"The good thing is he's got the right people around him at the club. Our medical team here have dealt with similar injuries in recent years and they're confident that he'll come through it.

"We've now got to decide if he'll have his surgery over here or in Australia. His injury, quite simply, gives someone else an opportunity for our final game of the season against Stoke.

"Levi Porter did his cruciate against Chelsea earlier in the season and he's back in training now. Years ago his career could well have been over. It's incredible what they can do these days."
