Fryatt earns praise
07 Apr 2007 - 07:47:55
Leicester City manager Rob Kelly picked out Matty Fryatt for special praise as the Foxes hit back to draw 1-1 with away-day specialists Derby County at the Walkers Stadium.
The former Walsall starlet has endured an injury-ravaged campaign, but came off the substitute's bench to grab the equaliser that inches Kelly's side further away from the bottom three.
"I mentioned in the week that getting Matty back was like having a new player," said Kelly. "He adds competition up front. People forget that he's still very young.
"He's had a rather blighted season through injury. I was tempted to throw him straight back in, but I didn't think that was the right thing to do - as much as I wanted to.
"He got nearly a half under his belt in the game so there's every chance that he will be involved against Plymouth on Monday. Matty is a goalscorer and he took his chance really well.
"I'm pleased with the performance. Of course, we'd have preferred to have got all three points, but it was a pretty even game and I think a draw was about right.
"I thought that the players showed their spirit and their character today.
"We've been on a disappointing run of late, although that's not been for a lack of spirit or effort."
