Foxes turn a corner at Elland Road

Paulo Sousa claimed his Leicester team had finally got the result their early-season performances had warranted as Steve Howard's late penalty helped them put Leeds out of the Carling Cup.The Foxes have endured a tough start to the npower Championship season with two defeats and a draw from their opening three games, but Tuesday night's 2-1 triumph over Leeds could be vital."After a small mistake we conceded the goal and we became a bit disturbed. We were a little bit in trouble towards the end of the first half, then we corrected things mentally and tactically," he said."This win is something we have deserved from the beginning of the season. In the process of building up a team it's always up and down. The confidence from this win will help bring (the team) up quicker. Results bring conviction and confidence so this could be an important win."Leeds took the lead through Davide Somma. The South African striker glanced home a header from Max Gradel's right-wing cross in the 32nd minute. Leicester got back on level terms thanks to a neat build-up and smart finish from Richie Wellens. The game looked destined for extra-time until a harmless-looking ball into the box bounced up and struck the hand of Leeds defender Neill Collins in the 89th minute, and Howard converted the penalty to send the Foxes through.
