Leicester City boss Micky Adams has moved to strengthen his midfield options by signing Real Betis' Icelandic international Joey Gudjonsson.

The 24-year-old joins the Foxes on a free transfer and has put pen to paper on a two-year contract.

Gudjonsson joined Betis from RKC Waalwijk in September 2001 but failed to make the expected impact in La Liga and has spent the past season and a half out on loan.

His first loan spell was with Aston Villa, where he scored twice in 11 Premiership games, and he then spent the whole of last season with Wolves, but started just five top-flight matches.
