Leicester City have made an official approach to MK Dons to speak to manager Paul Ince about the vacancy at the Walkers Stadium.
The League Two champions and last season's Johnstone's Paint Trophy winners confirmed the approach in a brief statement.
However, they have pledged to deal with the situation at a later date when Ince returns from a family holiday.
The former Manchester United, Internazionale and England midfielder enjoyed a successful first season at stadium:mk and has also been linked with the managerial vacancy at Premier League side Blackburn Rovers.
"This is not the first time we have had interest in Paul's services and it comes as no surprise to find ourselves at this juncture again," read a statement from the Dons.
"Paul is currently on a family holiday and we will address the situation with him upon his return."
The Foxes will play in League One last season after losing their Championship status under former boss Ian Holloway.
