Foxes handed Wellens boost
25 Sep 2009 - 12:11:20
Leicester City have been boosted by the news that midfielder Richie Wellens' hamstring injury is not as serious as was first feared.
The 29-year-old was injured in the 3-3 draw with Watford last weekend, but scans have revealed only slight damage and he may only miss one game.
Foxes boss Nigel Pearson told the Leicester Mercury: "He has been an important player for us so far but, like anyone else, if you have to do without them then it is someone else's opportunity.
"He is one player in a squad and we have a decent squad, so if someone misses out it is another player's opportunity. That is the strength and depth of this squad.
"Selection issues are not something I worry about. I am glad to have a few selection dilemmas.
"We do have some good players available and it is about getting the selection right, so we have the best chance of winning the game."
