Leicester City loan defender Alex Bruce is determined to make a swift return from a hernia operation and impress in the coming weeks with the Foxes.
The 25-year-old has made just one start since joining City from Ipswich Town in January and lasted just 30 minutes against Cardiff City before sustaining a stomach problem.
He told the Leicester Mercury: "It looks like a hernia and I will have it sorted out on Tuesday. It is a routine procedure and not like the hernia operations of old, which used to take six weeks to heal.
"It is more keyhole surgery now, so I am only looking at between five days and, at the most, two weeks out.
"It is not as bad as I first thought and by no means is my season over. If I can get back after five days then I will kick on from there and try to get back into the team."
